    Advanced Life Support  - CCP, Paramedic  
  Emergency Links
    ALS crew performs a more detailed assessment of the patient's condition.  The Paramedic or EMT-Intermediate are qualified for advanced lifesaving skills and to administer medications to stabilize the sick or trauma condition.  ALS performs all the Basic Life Support procedures and the following:  
  Star of Life
 
  Dial 9-1-1
   
  • Intravenous therapy and intraosseous infusion
  • Advance airway management, endotracheal intubation
  • Cardiac monitoring and interpretation of 12 lead ECG
  • Advanced medications to treat cardiac patients, diabetics, overdoses, allergic reactions, breathing emergencies, cardiac dysrhythmias, shock, stroke, and seizures.

      Critical Care Transport - CCP
   
    Critical Care Paramedics are qualified in critical care inter-facility transports.  They provide the skills of a paramedic with additional training to maintain the care of critically ill patients who are transported to a hospital for specialized care.
   
   
       
  • Maintain central venous access
  • Ventilator management
  • Chest tube management
  • Rapid Sequence Intubation
  • Advance medications and PCA pumps
     
    Basic Life Support - EMT-B  
        BLS crews are qualified to perform Basic Life Support with equipment and treatment certified by the State of Illinois.  Types of emergencies that requires the EMT-B level of care are:    
     
  • Basic Assessments, vital monitoring, blood sugar readings
  • Fractured or dislocated bones
  • Minor lacerations, abrasions, and contusions
  • Cardiac defibrillation
  • Administer general medications such as aspirin, albuterol, oral glucose, nitroglycerin, glucagon, epinepherine, and oxygen.

    Non-Emergency Transport  
    Non-emergency transports are scheduled with healthcare providers to transfer their patient's to hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, dialysis centers, rehabilitation facilities, and to the patient's residence.
